Precious Pieces Privacy Policy

Collection data stays on your device

Precious Pieces does not require an account. Jewelry records, photographs, supporting documents, purchase details, values, notes, preferences, and search history are stored locally in the app's storage on your device. NEWTYPE does not receive or store this collection data on its servers.

The app stores the collection PIN using the iOS Keychain. The PIN helps control access inside the app; it does not encrypt every collection file on the device.

Optional online features

The app makes limited network requests when you use the following features:

• Gold reference prices: The app requests public pricing information from TANAKA Precious Metals or XAUS. No jewelry record, photograph, document, value, or note is included in these requests.
• Brand-name checks: The brand name you enter may be sent to the public Wikidata and Wikipedia APIs to check spelling and identify likely jewelry brands. Other collection details are not included.

Those services receive ordinary technical information needed to handle an internet request, such as your IP address and user-agent information.

The Wikimedia Foundation states that search terms, IP addresses, and identifying user-agent information may be retained for up to 90 days before deletion, aggregation, or de-identification, with limited exceptions.

Other public sources process requests under their own privacy policies. NEWTYPE does not use these requests for advertising, tracking, or analytics.

Device permissions

• Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose or take a jewelry image.
• Face ID, Touch ID, or device authentication may be used to authorize a PIN reset. Authentication is performed by iOS; the app receives only whether authentication succeeded and does not receive biometric data.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Precious Pieces contains no advertising SDK and does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, or cross-app tracking data.

Backups, retention, and deletion

Depending on your device and iCloud settings, Apple's device backup may include app data. Apple controls those backups under its own terms and settings. NEWTYPE cannot view or delete them.

A jewelry record remains on the device until you delete it in the app. Deleting a record also removes its app-managed photographs and documents. Uninstalling the app removes its local data from the device, subject to any device backup that you control. Because NEWTYPE does not keep a server copy of your collection, there is no separate NEWTYPE account or cloud collection to delete.

Security and changes

We use the security features provided by iOS and the app's dependencies, but no storage method can guarantee absolute security on a compromised device. We may update this policy when the app changes; the effective date above will be revised when we do.
